Even if you don't care about the people, it is still driving up the price of anything that is made from grain or fed by grain. Also, if people are on the bottom of the priority list, then it becomes a purely economic issue. Only it doesn't make economic sense either, because it only works price wise because of heavy government subsidies. So let's make fuel artificially cheaper with other people's tax money. No wonder our federal deficit is reaching critical mass. If you want to breathe cleaner air, move away from a megalopolis. While I am in favor of research into biofuel, the current situation is a scientific breakthrough or two away from making sense.
