Thank you for posting those two versions. If a tire is about 24" dia., then I estimate it moved about a full 12 inches between the two. The various Camaro/Firebird templates were less, maybe half of that difference, or around 6 inches.
Still, it proves without a doubt the importance of proper placement on the roof high-point.
I had a similar experience when first trying to figure out how to use the template. It is a bit counterintuitive to say the least.
