That's all I've ever done. I fill from 1/4 tank to 3/4 tank all the time, which is about 5.5 gallons. That's putting me over $20, but at least the "bite" doesn't feel so bad. Remember in the good old days when 5 gallons was $10? That was soooooo four years ago,
