The first diesel conversion I saw was a 70s Chevy C-10 with the 350ci replaced by a GMC 3-51 industrial engine (3 cyl. 51ci per cyl.) mated to a Clark 5 spd trans. It was built by the county highway superintendant and got 20+ mpg.
