I think it's a fine choice, and it was on my radar when I was in the market for a new (used) car. What kind of economy numbers have you been getting?

The problem with diesel is the abysmal selection in the States (VW has not been reliable or cheap to service), and the $2k premium you'll pay to drive one. It takes a lot of saved pennies to make up for such a difference in price. I hesitate to even mention this since I'm somewhat of a diesel fanboy. I bought a full-size truck just because I wanted a diesel engine and light trucks don't have a diesel offering.
