Hyundai Elantra transmission in an Accent
Hey guys,
I know that many people do 'beta swaps' which is swapping the 1.5L 'alpha' motor in their Hyundai Accent with a 2.0L 'beta' from a tiburon or elantra. I have read tid-bits of info from it and many people reuse the original accent transmission. This leads me to the idea that the transmissions must be very similar and i should be able to use an Elantra transmission on the accent and in theory have longer gearing for better gas mileage. Has anyone here heard of anyone doing or trying this? I get 40 mpg with no effort at all and have gotten as high as 45 mpg from a few tanks last summer with my 02 accent hatchback. wouldn't mind finding out where the limit is if i ever have to do the clutch on this thing (might as well do the transmission too!)
