If you attach anything with appropriate fasteners it won't fall off.

However sheet aluminum is hardly much thicker than paper - so you won't need fasteners anywhere near as long as you would with a thicker material. Also sheet aluminum can be bent and even shaped as needed, and it won't crack, break off or catch fire.

That's why thinner material is better.

Of course some will always be in denial that there might be a more advantageous alternative than what are currently using because their egos are invested in it.
