Also today I removed the little "toolbox" compartment inthe rear to make way for the added car seat for my son.. it's going to work out quite well, you remove that box and you get more cargo room, there is a well thats 2+" deep in that thing.. like the spare tire well. I test fitted the car seat and theres plenty of room till hes about 70 pounds.. a adult would not be able to fit back there comfortably but a midget or kid .. no problem, in japan I would not be surprised if these things had a single rear seat??
My wife was a bit concerned but I said if I can secure a 55 gallon drum of oil in my veggie van for a fuel tank that weighs over 400 lbs I can safely secure a 70 pounds of kid and car seat.. it may be semi controversial to some but really its not rocket science.
