I removed the EGR since I did not have an easy method of proper control with the megasquirt computer. It will idle at 14.7 but you can see the idle speed control solenoid increase duty cycle to keep the RPMs at the proper set point. The engine has more vibration while idling at 14.7. If I turn off the pulse width modulating idle air control and let the engine fall to ~700 RPM while at 13:1 and start to lean it out the engine will stall before reaching 14.7:1. It needs slightly more throttle opening to maintain a lean idle. Hopefully I can still have an efficient idle by having it idle around 750 RPM. I like how quiet and smooth the engine gets at 750 RPM. I wonder why the factory had such a high idle. Does it need a higher idle for oil pressure or cooling? 750 seems to be the minimum, at 700 it spins the alternator a little too slow for running the radiator fan, heater, lights, and stereo.
