what type of drive train does the 2wd truck have?
is the 2wd truck a 4.9, 5.0, or 5.8L engine
2.73, 3.08, 3.27, 3.55, 3.73, 4.10 or 4.55 geared
the 2.73 ratio is only in 2wds. all others are made 2wd and 4wd.
the axil code on the drivers door will help find this out.
two numbers like 18 indicates a open diff, where one that's say F5 means the rear is a LSD diff.
in the early 90s there was i think two or three manual tranys.
and several different auto tranys as well.
in the mid to late 80s there's double that many tranys to pick from
1986 was the last year that ford sold the three on the tree manual trans
then there's sort bed and long, reg cab and extra cab, 2wd and 4wd.
need less to say all these differences, can have a staggering affect on MPG
