the GS 500 managed 69.9 mpg which is less than I had hoped for but quit good considering the speed of the event, which was set by the lead bike: a California state police bike. and yes the pace was the way most people drive which turned out to be at least 10 mph over the posted speed limits! Quit a few people had a hard time keeping up. I got to do 3 laps of Laguna Seca rather than the 2 laps that most of the others did. on the 3rd lap I probably managed to do one or two of the corners half desent! The cork screw is a blind entry and it would take 10 or more practice laps to get it right...
