Yes that is an industral version of what I'm thinking about. Mine will have a cover plate with three or four holes in it so each rev. it will pulse the sensor three of four times giving a finer measurement (about a pulse every quarter teaspoon).
I'm just finnishing up something in the next two weeks and then will start on my attemped at this. I will probable post it under a new thread because this one is getting quite long and diverse.
I'm also glad that you posted that link because I've got plans for doing a hot water solar system for the house and it would be nice to have something like that as kind of a visual check on the flow. although at $260 I think I'll try and make my own.
