I am using a glass bead in the recirculating ball flow meter.
Still working on it light was shining thur the hole in the bead.

Below diagram for using press. pump to gravity carb utilizing an old holley float bowl.

and single flow meter for recirculating fuel systems.

I think if I mess with the bike anymore, it will be after I grab a couple small injectors from the junkyard and a FI pump and teach an arduino to be an ECU

wow that would be a project. half way there would be to teach an arduino to keep the the float bowl full, by pulsing an injector.

Sorry, I meant to imply that I'm seriously considering a DIY fuel injection system for the bike, which doesn't seem so far fetched to me after experiencing the arduino. I should have a lot more efficiency tuning options that way, and a smoother ride. But it is for another thread and another time.

Edit: oops I misread your post. You knew where I was headed with that

I got the old ZEMCO recirculating ball flow meter working last nite. Ended up using a glass/ceramic bead with the hole filled with epoxy. A red light seem to work better than a green light. I used part # 272-0332 from the shack. Would work as is for a carb'd engine but I want to put it on a mechanical injected diesel. So in the process of building a small fuel bowl to recirculate the the fuel back to, without measuring it twice.

Hi all
I just wanted to add a visual to personx's earlier (yeah page 1) suggestion of a vane type flow meter. http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/NNSRIT...MT4NO=43755197 Of course plus the sensor. At least this is the idea i think personx was thinking of and what i had thought of persuing before having fuel injection.

Yes that is an industral version of what I'm thinking about. Mine will have a cover plate with three or four holes in it so each rev. it will pulse the sensor three of four times giving a finer measurement (about a pulse every quarter teaspoon).

I'm just finnishing up something in the next two weeks and then will start on my attemped at this. I will probable post it under a new thread because this one is getting quite long and diverse.

I'm also glad that you posted that link because I've got plans for doing a hot water solar system for the house and it would be nice to have something like that as kind of a visual check on the flow. although at $260 I think I'll try and make my own.

this flow meter from a previous post in German. i have seen this meter for $120 somewhere.

there are about a gazillion different kinds of flow meters.

so far the recirculating ball, looks the simplest to make.

das Durchflußgeber ~$61
wow that getting down there, if the dollar was strong, prob be only 40 bucks.

Ya, das Durchflußgeber ~$61 http://www.conrad.de/goto.php?artikel=126055

The low end of the flow wasn't small enough for my liking
0.025 - 2.5 l/min

Auf.

my diesel has very low fuel flow at idle, my flow meter's lower limit is about 0.2 gal/ hr. and the diesel's idle flow is about 0.1gal/hr. I am going to add more beads in the flow meter to see if it increases the resolution. i don't think it will matter if they are not spaced equally. I am putting pics in my album now instead of scattering them in my posts.
