They are very similar, but there are more differences than you'd expect. The D16Y8 and D16Y5 also have a different intake manifold, a knock sensor, EGR, different ECU programming, shorter gearing, and of course significant wiring harness differences to go along with these. My engine is also a D16Y7, like this "Del Slow" and I have been curious about a conversion (I think it is too difficult for the benefit).
