This has been my experience as well, everybody here is very supportive. As long as you test, you're golden.

Something I've learned from reading up on them myself is that many people see a bigger aerodynamic benefit from the rear portion of the car than the front, especially because the rear bumper tends to be a parachute shape. That's not to say don't do the whole underbody, just that if you only have time/money/supplies for part, aim for the back.
