My Experience
Just for your information, I recently rented a 2012 Diesel VW van ("Caddy" Model) from EuroCar in Ireland for 7 days of touring. As I am an American driver with no prior experience driving on the "wrong" side of the road, therefor I tended to drive very conservatively. However, with 5 passengers plus 2 pieces of luggage for each, the van got 50.13 miles per gallon on my first fillup, and 48.3 mpg on the second. I was very surprised, in view of the hilly areas of the Dingle Peninsula, Connor Pass, and the Burren of Clare we frequented.
