Print it out to 10% of your vehicle height, draw a 1cm grid over it, then draw a 10cm grid on a piece of plywood and trace it.

For instance, I am doing a scale model for a three wheeler project. The real car will be 3200mm long so I printed out a profile view 320mm long to begin making the model. It's a really simple technique which I reversed from full size in Photoshop to scale size in real life.
