I used clear packing tape on my Odyssey for a recent trip. It looked homemade (not great). The wheels warming up made the adhesive very gummy and a major pain to remove - I had to use solvents to clean things up. Brake dust and road dirt made a mess of the inside surface.
I would not do clear covers.
