I met reps from the HyTronX corporation at the Montreal International Startup Festival this past weekend. They were showing off a system that generates hydrogen on demand and pipes it into the engine after the air filter. There's a little box in the trunk that generates the hydrogen from distilled water and then it's piped to the intake:

I told the CEO that it's too bad he didn't participate in the local
Economy Run as this would have been a great way to show off the technology and spark up some good conversation with eco-minded individuals. There are fleet vehicles in Montreal using the system right now and I figured I'd post the links here to incite some good discussion. For my part, I'm still wrapping my head around how the motive energy gained is greater than that required for the on-demand electrolysis.
