Question HyTronX: on-demand hydrogen injection

I met reps from the HyTronX corporation at the Montreal International Startup Festival this past weekend. They were showing off a system that generates hydrogen on demand and pipes it into the engine after the air filter. There's a little box in the trunk that generates the hydrogen from distilled water and then it's piped to the intake:

Here's their website: hytronx.com

I told the CEO that it's too bad he didn't participate in the local Economy Run as this would have been a great way to show off the technology and spark up some good conversation with eco-minded individuals. There are fleet vehicles in Montreal using the system right now and I figured I'd post the links here to incite some good discussion. For my part, I'm still wrapping my head around how the motive energy gained is greater than that required for the on-demand electrolysis.

Yah... Good luck with that.

If this HyTronX thingy is being marketed with that above statement in mind, then the company is a) truly ignorant of the principles behind an internal combustion engine, b) is trying to use said ignorance of their customers in order to rip them off, or c) a combination of a and b.

All the other uses of hydrogen injection amount to a rather novel and dangerous method of water injection in order to allow somebody to lean out their gasoline engine without destroying it.

A "hydrogen generator" maker based in canada is about as legit as one of those emails from nigeria.

I would have told him it's too bad he didn't go bungee jumping without a bungee.

That "little box" looks like it has a battery in it. My guess is the fuel economy would be better if you disconnect the hydrogen generator, wire the battery into the electrical system and delete the alternator. Be a lot cheaper too.

I think will go with a home made Hydrogen injection system on my diesel eventually. Buy I'm going to use an ingenious solution to store the H by using a 2:1 ratio to oxygen to keep it stable

Well, you want to be careful with that 2:1 ratio. Dihydrogen monoxide can be some dangerous stuff. It kills thousands of people every year, and it's been found inside of cancerous tumors.
