If it would drop straight to the 830 rpm 'rolling idle' it then mpg would probably easily net 1 more mpg over a tank, maybe more.

Wow, mine is at 2L/100 (117mpg) when I coast at 60mph. It holds a high idle when I coast over 1000rpm sometimes it has dropped down lower to the same as the idle when at stop lights.
What are your shift points? I try to shift before 2000rpm, sometimes at 1500.
