40+ mpg tanks
Upon getting my first 40 mpg, I ended up getting 3 in a row and it was combined not highway in which it was achieved. The ave speed for those tanks was in the mid 30 mph range.
My 'in town' tanks usually net 30 mph ave, along with a 36 mpg ave.
My combined usually averaged 35-38 mph to give a 40 mpg ave.
My highway ave was 45+ mph and usually netted 40 mpg, or very small difference vs combined. (This was with driving slower than the PSL on interstates).
Now, I have slowed down more in the city and increased my speed on the interstate (to take advantage of the corridor effect and partial draft).
On a record tank now and the majority of miles/time is highway but it's looking like a 42+ mpg tank. Showing 600 miles on this tank with 1/4 left.
I use to struggle to get 36-38 on a highway tank (too much cruise) and now seems much easier to get better. Here's the interesting thing, when going uphills on cruise, my UG will give me the same instant MPG reading doing 55 or 70 mph, the only difference is the GPH.
Oh, the SRT feature on the UG has helped a great deal.

Good job, have you tried highway P&G? I've been having good success with it even when I don't combine it with EOC, we've had a heat wave here.
On a side note what is your instant mpg if you coast at 60mph? I find the 2.4L burns a lot of fuel at idle. I have heard that it takes about 5000miles and then the fuel economy improves and I am only at 4500km.

GPH when selecting neutral at 60 will initially drop to .28, then .25, then .23 and hold a few seconds, then .20. So it eventually makes it read 300 mpg coasting at 60 but takes 5+ seconds to get there.
If it would drop straight to the 830 rpm 'rolling idle' it then mpg would probably easily net 1 more mpg over a tank, maybe more.
Just got through the NEW record tank of 43+! 718 miles/ 16.54 gallons.

Wow, mine is at 2L/100 (117mpg) when I coast at 60mph. It holds a high idle when I coast over 1000rpm sometimes it has dropped down lower to the same as the idle when at stop lights.
What are your shift points? I try to shift before 2000rpm, sometimes at 1500.

If you will look back through my threads, you will see where I talk about how my car does. It eventually will idle down to 830 rpm, but only at speeds over 30 mph. Under 30 it's rolling idle is 1050 rpm with .28 gph.
If it would come down to a stationary idle of 650 immediately after let off I'd probably net 3-4 mpg gain.
My shift points vary with acceleration uphill/flat/downhill.

Wow my idle when coasting is .5 gph! I checked it last night not realizing had I been thinking in metric it would have been staring me in the face. 100km/hr, 2L/100 means 2L/hr.
I really hope that's just an extended break in.
