Welcome to the site. You'll find you're not alone in terms of coming from a performance/racing/autocrossing background and deciding to turn attention and skill (mechanical and driving) towards improved efficiency.
I took more than a couple of track/"performance driving" courses and track lapping days years ago, and really enjoyed the learning experience & challenge. I find driving for efficiency just as enjoyable for the same reasons.
