The link (above) is for a design competition -- they are looking for an elegant solution to opening the (front?) doors. An extending scissor action is kind of what they are looking for. Here's a screen capture from the

At the very end, the motto is "The world's most advanced
electric car is about to get even better." (Emphasis is mine.) I'm glad they are pursuing the electric (and/or a serial hybrid?) drivetrain.
