You have a manual : put it in neutral to coast
And start coasting a lot further.

If it's left in gear, it'll be braking rather than coasting.
That's OK if you want to brake, or when you're coming down a hill and need to control your speed.

But when you want to slow down ... well err... very slowly, just shove it into neutral and enjoy the long coasts.
It means you need to be looking ahead a LOT further as well.
