information/mpg screen..... (bigger = better?)

I have been here a couple if yrs now and a common theme is 'Adjusting the nut behind the wheel'. Along with that comes the suggestion to purchase a scangaugeII or equivilant product.
The main reason is to keep 'mpg' top of mind so you are constantly trying to 'beat the screen'!

My 2002 Infiniti Q45 Sport came with a mpg mode on the consol screen. that sreen is 5 inchs big and the mpg screen filled the whole screen. I got hooked long before I found this site and was able to hit 27mpg on hwy trips w/ no mods. (factory is 22 hwy)

the white leaf on the right in the screen fill up green as you get better mpg

My daughter just bought a 2011 Ford Edge Limited. The mpg info screen is very small in comparision.
the whit blob is the size of the screen

The ep

here is a close up

epa hwy is 27mpg. I was able to get 32mpg on a relatively flat section of hwy 183 in Austin over 10 miles going 60mph.

I realize that a large or small screen does not effect the epa rating. So there is no manufacturer incentive. But the consumer would certainly benefit if the mpg screen was more dominate.

your thoughts??
