Todd,

is your car direct drive or have a transmission?

If its direct, you don't want to spin the motor the reverse direction that its wired for.

This will cause a voltage to be generated and when it reachs the clamping voltage of the diodes, it will be like applying an electric brake by shorting the motor terminals together. IF the current gets beyone the diodes capacity, well...things wont be good.

I found this out in my golf cart by rolling backwards. Never blew anything up though.
