Myself, I'd worry about the automatic transmission.
To improve MPG the tranny simply has to do two things: Lock up the TC quickly after every shift, and reduce engine RPM at any given road speed except when accelerating or fighting a big load.
Both things act to reduce flow of ATF through the cooler. Hot automatics fail expensively. Complex automatics fail more expensively.
Myself, I wouldn't hit a dawg in the butt with any automatic made.
