Likewise. Lucky for me my area is sparcely populated enough that its not hard to self govern for the most part. The ones that cause the problems are the yahoos that don't have a proper rig come out drunk and just drive where ever. Luckly they dont go too far in and tear up our more interesting trails. So far our local group has a good relationship with the local BLM, wish I could say the same for the Forest Service.
The probelm we have here with trail closures is more of the environmetalists using the problems you guys face as an example of what they are trying to prevent. In one of our local forests they recently announced that they will be closing 75% of the roads and trails. Many of the others are facing 25-50% closures. Yes some do need closed, but most don't.
South of here in Las Cruces, the Chili Challenge trails are under attack every year despite the participants (tube buggys and all) following the rules.
