I remember back in the early 80's when I was road racing motorcycles. Hardly any bikes had more than a headlight cover. When the Yamaha RZ350 was introduced it became apparent that they were more efficient and drafting them was much more difficult. I really don't like the trend in current motorcycle fairings with lots of sharp corners on them. I would guess that they penetrate the air better than my old 2 stroke but the shapes are not intuitive.
I still have my old rz350. Runs great.
