My wife is quite the energy saver, we don't have a clothes dryer, or AC in the house or our cars primarily because of her. She is also fanatical about turning off the lights or appliances. She runs the woodstove better than I do too, although I think she's had it red hot a few times.
She is warming up to my hypermiling techniques but hasn't adopted them herself yet. She does like the fuel savings though. She spends about $300-400 a year on clothes too.
but still looks pretty good. Not by fashion fanatic standards but good enough for non-metrosexual men.
She has no interest in new cars other than their fuel efficiency and insists on manual transmissions! She is not the most mechanically sympathetic person but we have never repaired a transmission or replaced a clutch yet in 300,000km of manual car ownership. The automatic in the Neon is annoying to her but she didn't argue with a free car either.
Anyways, sensible women are out there, you just have to look for them, if they have livestock(except horses) or like to garden for food, its a good sign.
