Idk if water works exactly the same as seafoam but the reason I chose seafoam is because it was (and still might be) on sale at orielys for 6 dollars and it seams like there is a lightly less chance of hydro locking your engine and seafoam has an oily part to it that doesn't evaporate right away which allows it to sit and break down your carbon for a little while.
