My computer used to be fairly accurate (like +/- 0.1 to 0.2 L/100km) with 0.1 being the smallest change that can be seen on the computer.
The + and the - tended to even out over time.
That is, until I really started hypermiling
(Coasting, shutting off the engine at standstill.)
Now it's usually - or rather always - on the optimistic side as well.
Up to almost 10% optimistic.
In mpg terms, that can mean an indicated 65 MPG, for an actual 59 MPG ...
