Isn't there a way to keep a thread off-the-air so to speak, so it can't be seen unless one knows it's there i.e. access by invitation or something like that ?
Everything you put to the internet is visible to the persons who like to see them if they have enough interest. People at car OEMs do have the money and interest to look for any new ideas and think ways to go around or just start using them, because they are bigger...

So if you have plans to patent something dont put anything on the web before you have done the protection of the innovation.

Best entry to the market is with a product that you are able to sell big numbers right from the start you release it. It does not need to be perfect because nothing is but it needs to be superb compared to products on the market when released.

So before releasing you should have ready:
- IP protection, if you need one
- ready selling channel
- enough manufacturing capasity on the standby if needed to expand production
- enough money in your bank account

plus many other factors. Those arent easy pieces for a company who is entering the market with limited resources in all possible ways.

But before you have proven anything to the market its even more tougher to get some credibility. So you have to sacrifice something to get something back. In my mind making an fuel efficient car or truck is at the moment easiest part of the puzzle. Toughest part is to find funding for your projects.
