Thanks again to all you guys. I think I'm well-equipped information-wise to go ahead with a purchase now. The one guy on the east coast has a salvage title but swears the car drives great. He's around $1500 but I think I could finagle it for around $1000. Thing is, cheap as it is, the car has a scary question mark attached to it. So my alternative is seeking the nicer, cleaner ones I'm watching but spending a few grand more..
I'll keep you all apprised as to what happens!
