If all the wires are disconnected from the controller, the resistance from the base plate/heat spreader to each of the bus bars should be large. Somebody else was asking about that too. He was getting a very different resistance from bus bars to base plate with the controller hooked up than with it disconnected. I'm not sure what's going on in his situation. I think it's a connection from battery pack to chassis someplace else in his case.

Did the puff of smoke come from inside the controller?
