what do I see in voltage if BAD O2 sensor?

I suspect my O2 sensor... slight hesitation, apparently no lean-burn (by looking at the MPGuino there is no jump). When I unplug the O2 sensor, hesitation goes away.

So, I'm about to solder in some wires so I can easily check the voltage and monitor the O2 sensor/lean-burn. From this thread I can see what I *should* be seeing, but what would you expect to see if the sensor is bad? Is there any clear indication?

Also, I've been wondering, is lean-burn a binary situation? on/off? or is it an incremental adjustment in amount of fuel made by the ecu in response to the o2 sensor signal? That pertains to whether an idiot light would be meaningful.

I'm probably going to wire in one of these: www{dot}adafruit{dot}com/products/705
and add on a vtec led somewhere.
