Not sure how this would play out in summer. My plan was to use riv-nuts for the foam panels so removal would be reasonable.
I definitely think you need a digital engine temp display (ScanGauge has it) if you do any of these mods, also if you have a grill block.
That said, with Eco-driving , the problem isn't usually overheating, the concern becomes keeping the engine up to the desired temperature.
