I don't know all the nitty gritty details of each engine (mounts/transmission bolt pattern, etc.), but if you yanked the 1NZ-FE engine out of an Echo, and installed the intake manifold, exhaust manifold, accessory brackets, etc. from it onto a 1NZ-FXE engine from a Prius and used the stock Echo harness and ECU, it will probably work. Probably. Maybe.

And if it does work, there will definitely be an efficiency advantage - 13.0:1 vs 10.5:1 to be exact. 25% less power, but who cares about that.
