If Diesel was an option I would recomend the TDI Jetta Sportwagen. I have really been trying to convince my wife to get one, but she only likes the 2011+ bodystyle which is too expensive.

If you are stuck on gasoline powered vehicles, you might wan tto check out a Toyota Matrix or Pontiac Vibe. They are the same car based on a toyota corrola powerplant.

I am more performance minded and was really looking for a Lexus IS300 sportcross. These are extremely rare and a very high trim level of the IS300 cars. I eventually gave up my search when I came across a sport design model with manual transmission at a really good price. Also a very high trim level but without the hatchback. I figure I can keep using my my civic for most of my hatchback purposes.
