I wouldnt worry about those ribs if i were you(unless your not gonna finish them, that is, i am a tad hungry)

The pure volume of air flowing in-out through smaller than straw size holes, 'efficiently' at that, is not worth the thought really. with the plastic already there as a guide, its already keeping the pressures seperated which is the main thing really
