That is why many of us capture everything in a log book, it makes having to remember a (pardon the pun) "no brainer" (ha,ha).

Here's how I have my logbook columns labelled:


...DATE...|.TRIP..|..ODO...|..GALS..|.CO$T.|..NOTE S...
01-Apr-13 | 349.1 | 25,000 | 10.903 |$36.39| 87 octane


Note that "TRIP" is the 'small' miles (XXX.X) that you reset at each fillup, while the "ODO(meter)" is the 'big' (total car milage) miles (XXX,XXX) that you cannot change...it just accumulates as you drive, getting bigger.
