I had it lowered 1.5" and it didn't help a bit with mileage, what it did do however was wear out my suspension bushings over the course of the two years I had it like that, nearly $1,000 later I had a car I could stand to drive again, lowering it made it hit pavement going in to parking lots, it made it ride supper rough and I started getting stuck in the winter more often.
Putting it back to stock height was well worth the money.
