Hi,
I'm gearing up to do an aerocap on my truck...just as soon as I finish the kitchen cabinets, replace the kitchen drain line under the house, get a new head on the Mitsu, replace the shocks on the truck...you get the idea. Bad case of TMP.
That said, I think an aerocap is huge low hanging fruit. Your truck, like JMRichlers, is an aero disaster. If you mostly use it for just motoring around then covering up the giant wind bucket in the back is a good idea.
This is just me but I'd start with an air dam, smoothie wheel discs and fender skirts out back. That's easy stuff and reversible. If you like the results, you can dig in a little deeper.
All of that said, the improvements I've made on my own mileage have been from behavioral changes. I have a smooth cab-high cap on my truck but nothing else. I tried changing to synthetic fluids and it didn't make a difference I've noticed, but it might be too small a signal to rise above the noise of the truck's other problems.
