I think the quick and dirty way to wrap a manifold or header and not have it rust out is to sand blast it and give it a coat of spray on silicone RTV.
That is what I will likely do to my cross over pipe, the only part of my exhaust that isn't stainless steel. I would like to pull it, sand blast it and throw a coat of silicone on it, then wrap it if there is any room. It gets real tight in a few places.
