Yup, that's exactly why I don't want to claim it through insurance here. It's a good little car, but I just know that if I ask for dough to fix it, they will want it to get a provincial safety inspection (which are stupidly hard to pass for a newer car, yet alone a 23 year old Civic), so it's not worth it. Though I did find out that the Fiat that hit it was a rental car. Hmmmm, who do I know that knows something about how rental car insurance works? Oh ya, me, seeing as I rent cars on occasion. The guy that rented out the Fiat will be sweating right about now, as it will be way cheaper for him to pay me out than for him to take a claim against his policy. I see a steak dinner and a bottle of Belvedere on him in my future, and he's lucky I am a nice guy or things would be a lot worse for him ha ha.
