I don't know what it's like to put a "write off" back on the road where you are. But here, for example, I once bought a 1985 Civic 1500S that was beautiful. Like original paint, low KMs, rust free. I paid $205 for it. The front bumper had been hit from the side, and was pushed over about 2 inches. I figured it was an easy fix, having never tried to put a salvage car back on the road again at that time. Nope, sure wasn't. Once you got it repaired, you needed a provincial safety inspection, a frame inspection, and, get this, a headlight alignment inspection! Yup, that's right, you actually had to pay someone to check that your headlights were aligned correctly. It's a real racket here to get this stuff done, I just don't bother anymore, it's not worth the grief.
