The v65 was NOT known for reasonable fuel economy.
Also, when you have a month of sundays check the valve clearances. Since they are among the most difficult (or expensive) to adjust in motorcycledom it may not have ever been done.
Heh. I just did the opposite. Out went the big bike, now have a $160 250cc. I'm sure I'll eventually right size to a 650 or 700 some day.
