It looks like the cap runs all the way to the windshield. There could be a glove compartment above the original roof.
Google "Holden Sandman". The one i pictured was a "VY" model (2004 ish) which was a remake of the old panel vans popular in Australia in the 60s and 70s, Holden (Sandman), Ford (Sundowner) and Chrysler (Valiant Drifter) all had similar offerings based on utilities with high rooflines and walk through cab to the rear compartment, they were built for the travel/surfing/camping lifestyle that was very popular back then
