The Tesla Model S can go ~265 miles on a single charge. It uses ~380Wh/mile. The EV1 was capable of <160Wh/mile so if it had an 85kWh pack, it would have 2.375X more range - about 625 miles!

I think that <100Wh/mile is quite possible in a optimized high efficiency car - like what I am trying to do with CarBEN EV5. The Stella solar car can travel at 40-60Wh/mile so it has ~370 mile range on just a 15kWh battery pack. That puts a ~590 miles range on a Leaf's 24kWh pack.

So, with an efficient low drag car, a hybrid set up is moot.
